Humanity’s progress depends on inventions that almost everyone initially thinks are improbable. Today, we see them emerging across four frontiers that are becoming deeply connected: Frontier AI, Energy, TechBio, and Physical AI.
Frontier AI is about pushing the boundaries of AI itself: new model architectures, new approaches to reasoning, learning and memory, and purpose-built chips that deliver more intelligence with less compute and energy.
Scaling that intelligence requires a parallel transformation in Energy. Meeting AI demand will take new firm power, from nuclear and geothermal to fusion fuel, and flexible storage and software that make every megawatt count. Data centres are being redesigned around power too, from new power electronics and cooling to sites that generate their own energy and work with the grid rather than waiting for it.
As intelligence becomes more powerful and abundant, it is also transforming what we can do in TechBio. AI is making biology increasingly programmable, turning drug discovery and experimentation into problems we can design, simulate, and automate, and dramatically expanding the search space we can explore.
And as AI learns to understand not just language and biology but the physical world, Physical AI becomes the next frontier. Advances in robotics and world models are bringing intelligence into machines that can perceive, reason and act in the real world.
New Frontiers backs the founders building across these frontiers, and increasingly where they meet. We also keep watching the frontiers that come next, from quantum computing, space to technologies that don’t have a name yet
